Airbus vs Boeing. Airbus is winning
The national airline of Saudi Arabia flyadeal refused to deal with the purchase of Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. The contract involved the acquisition of 30 aircraft with an option for an additional 20 aircraft.
According to the BBC, such a purchase would have cost the airline $ 5.9 billion. Boeing made the client a big discount, the publication said. However, the deal fell through - the aircraft designer explained the cancellation of the agreement by the inability to fulfill the requirements of the aircraft delivery schedule.
Instead of Boeing, flyadeal will purchase Airbus A320neo liners, which are direct competitors to the 737 MAX. Saudi Arabia will buy 50 aircraft worth over $ 5.5 billion
Four months ago, in mid-March, Boeing suspended the supply of models to customers and limited their production. The company expects by September 2019 to eliminate problems with the aircraft and return it to service.
Despite the liner’s problems in June, Boeing signed a contract with the AIG concern for the supply of 200 737 MAX aircraft worth $ 200 billion.
