NASA is planning a new mission to the moon

NASA is creating a new spacesuit for the lunar mission of Artemis. Space Agency intends to organize a new lunar mission of Artemis, and for this, by 2024, it’s needed to work out a new spacesuit.

It must be flexible enough to allow astronauts to bend when they study and collect samples. At the same time, it must be reliable and safe to work in open space.
Although at first glance, this task may seem simple, it requires many technological and engineering solutions. A spacesuit is a massive unit that effectively performs the role of a spacecraft and is made in the shape of a human.
At the same time, NASA engineers want the astronauts not to feel the spacesuit on themselves, and the execution of tasks in space and on the surface of the moon resembled to work in an ordinary shirt.
The team of spacesuit developers must look for new ways to create parts of space protective clothing. Due to the using of 3D printing and other technologies, it is planned to make costumes lighter and more maneuverable. Suits must fit the bodies of different forms, as the space agency intends for the first time to send a woman to the moon. Moreover, the development of the spacesuit will require the investment of hundreds of millions of dollars.
NASA maps out to test the details of the new spacesuit next year at the International Space Station. According to agency administrator Jim Bridenstein, space suits will have to be used in low earth orbit and on the moon, which poses fascinating design and technical challenges for developers. The lunar mission spacesuits are more stringent requirements than for those used in low Earth orbit.
According to Bridenstein, the agency will probably need additional funding for the lunar Artemis program, if NASA wants to complete the creation of a new spacesuit and conduct tests until 2023. This money would give them room to maneuver in the creation schedule, should any problems arise. However, it is not yet clear whether the agency will receive support in this matter from the Congress.
