The UK will suspend investor visa
British authorities are going to change their investing rules for foreign investors in the fight against money-laundering. GMOTrading will tell you about reasons for this situation and what you should do in the future if you want to be an investor in the UK.
UK`s investor Tier 1 scheme will be put on hold because of money-laundering by unscrupulous overseas investors. The process will start from December 7 to 2019 when the rules will be changed. Submitted applications will be processed, but new will not be taken.
The Tier 1 type visa is known as “gold visa” allows investor who has invested in the UK more than $2,5m to get residence permits in the country.
According to the UK`s government statement, the country is always ready for law-abiding investors who ready to invest money in the local economy and business. But the government isn`t going to be tolerant to businessmen violating the provided rules.
Immigration minister Caroline Nokes said: “The UK will always be open to legitimate and genuine investors who are committed to helping our economy and businesses grow. However, I have been clear that we will not tolerate people who do not play by the rules and seek to abuse the system.
“That is why I am bringing forward these new measures which will make sure that only genuine investors, who intend to support UK businesses, can benefit from our immigration system.”
According to the British Home Office, approximately 3 thousand people have benefited from “gold visa”, 60% of them are Russian and Chinese. The main reason for planned changes is the Salisbury poisonings.
