Retail revolution: Amazon has launched the first small cashier-free store

Worldwide famous IT giant Amazon is continuing to gain retail segment. The company is going to open the such mini Amazon Go stores in offices and hospitals, according to the CNN publication.

We note Amazon Go is automatic cashier-free stores which are working without cashboxes or salesmen. There are cameras watching customers and you can put all purchases in your bag at once. The store will let you in if you open a special mobile app and use it for an entry gate.

Total space of Amazon Go stores usually is near 185 sq.m., but the new mini shop is much smaller just approximately 41 sq.m. The first tiny Amazon storefront was launched in the company's office which is located in Seattle. According to the company representatives, Amazon is going to promote the mini format in business centers, hospital and also in spaces where are many hungry people hurrying around.

But even cashier-free store needs employees for the product placement on the shelf.

"People do still want help. They like to ask the associates, 'What's your favorite? What should I get?' Or they might want to make sure about ingredients on something," Amazon Go Vice President Gianna Puerini said. "There's still a lot of human interaction."

Notwithstanding a smallness type, new Amazon Go stores using classic for the company automatic scheme as like its big supermarkets. And one more interesting thing, small Amazon storefronts are modular, according to the Puerini, he said that it took only a few weeks to open this shop instead of typically retail points which took months.
