Swiss financial regulator suggested an 800% cryptocurrency growth
Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA) has recommended banks to establish a new risk-benefit ratio for cryptoassets at a level 800%, as reported by SWI.
A local news portal got the confidential letter which FINMA had sent to the Swiss Expert Association for Audit, Tax, and Fiduciary. The regulator has told about its position on cryptocurrency operating surplus.
FINMA advice financial institutions to enable estimates based on 800% cryptocurrency growth. According to this statement, Bitcoin will increase from current grade $6400 to $51000 and banks should take into account this scenario.
The rate of 800% is the highest top when we are talking about financial risk assessment. So, that means cryptocurrencies are a high-risk investment.
In addition, the supervisory authority has restricted the trade cryptocurrency value to 4% of a total capital. When financial institutes achieve this level, they should report about it to FINMA.
The regulator added that when you calculate the computation of the cryptocurrency liquidity position it cannot be considered as highly marketable assets.
These rules will be acting until November 26-27 when the Basel Committee meeting is held.
