According to the experts' statement, Western economic sanctions were the main reason for
the economic crisis in the republic.
Analysts researched the period from 2013
(the year in which President Nicolas Maduro became the president)
to 2017. In this case, the United States introduced the first sanctions against Venezuela in 2014.
EU sanctions against Caracas started to operate in 2017.
At the same time, the report does not specify why the experts took such a time period as a basis.
The report's authors suggested that the humanitarian crisis in Venezuela and the migration
of hundreds of thousands of citizens was triggered by the economic boycott of the United States
and its allies. It should be noted that the above-mentioned countries excluded the republic
from international financial markets.
Analysts are sure that the economy and society of the republic lose near $22.5 billion annually,
because of the financial isolation of Venezuela.
According to the experts` data, the total losses of the country ranged from 260 to 350 billion dollars,
since Maduro had come to power in 2013.
